VIDEO: Celebrate William 'The Refrigerator' Perry's Super Bowl XX Touchdown Run 34 Years Ago Today
NFL folk hero William Perry, also know as "The Refrigerator," was best known as a defensive tackle throughout his career. However, with athleticism not usually found in a guy his size, Perry occasionally ran the ball when close to the end zone, including once for a touchdown exactly 34 years ago today in Super Bowl XX between Perry's Chicago Bears and the New England Patriots.
Incredible. The '85 Bears will be remembered forever for a whole lot of things, but the massive Perry lining up at fullback in goal line situations still stands out.
Just look at the way the Fridge just bullies his way through the defense for the score. What a smart setup from Mike Ditka and the Bears to roll out the big man and let him do the rest.
