Willson Contreras Hopes to be Activated From IL on Wednesday

The Chicago Cubs could get an internal boost to their squad this week just before the trade deadline.
Reports suggest All-Star catcher Willson Contreras plans to return from the IL Wednesday to rejoin the red-hot Cubs.

Contreras was placed on the IL as a precaution as he deals with a strained foot. The All-Star is hoping to take batting practice on Tuesday before returning to the team Wednesday for their game in San Francisco.
The Cubs could use Contreras back in the lineup, as the backstop was hitting .286 with a .382 OBP, 19 home runs and 55 RBI before hitting the IL. That type of production is rare from the catcher position, and Contreras' bat can help Chicago towards the finish line in the NL Central.

With the Brewers losing one of their top pitchers to injury, the Cubs getting one of their best players back from injury could be the perfect storm towards a division title.
