It's no shock that the Barack Obama is a huge basketball fan. The 44th President of the United States has long since displayed his affection for the sport, and has been present at major events in the league, including Game 2 of the NBA Finals.

What will come as a shock, however, is just how involved he has become with the NBA since leaving the White House.

According to The Athletic's Evan Strauss, Obama has had his hand in trying to recruit current Raptors president of basketball operations Masai Ujiri to the Wizards.

The Washington Wizards are reportedly ready to offer Ujiri a six-year, $60 million contract that could possibly include an ownership stake in Monumental Sports & Entertainment along with other responsibilities.

It's clear the Wizards are desperate for a new leader in the front office after firing GM Ernie Grunfeld more than two months ago. Their search for a replacement hasn't been successful, but they have their sights set on Ujiri, and seem to be willing to pull out all the stops in order to land him.

Well, if the reports on their latest recruiting tactics are true, it will be difficult for Ujiri to pass up the offer, even after winning the NBA Finals with the Raptors. It'd be difficult to turn down any request from Obama, especially one that comes with a $10 million annual paycheck.

We'll see just how much pull the former president has, as Obama and Ujiri are reportedly close friends. It may be hard to lure Ujiri away from Toronto, considering the team's incredible achievements this season, but if anyone's up to the task, it's Obama.
