Wizards Release Statement Amid Ongoing George Floyd Protests That's Way Stronger Than Most

The NBA has seen myriad players take to the streets -- Jaylon Brown, Malcolm Brogdon and Enes Kanter, to name a few -- to join the protests that are speaking out against the murder of George Floyd and police brutality as a whole. Elsewhere, the league's biggest superstars are using their platform to articulate their emotions on social media.

The Washington Wizards joined this growing trend on Sunday, and it's fairly easy to say that their message stands out among the rest of the boilerplate notes from various professional sports teams, going right to the root cause of all this.

We aren't denouncing teams and players that have previously come forward to state their dismay with the current state of the nation, but they should follow the Wizards' lead from this point forward. Objecting to wrongful murder of African-Americans and racial profiling altogether is one thing. Calling out incapable political figures that contribute to this unsettling obstacle really puts Washington's post on a different pedestal of powerful.

In an awesome gesture, Wizards star guard Bradley Beal re-posted the organization's message on his Instagram, which has 1.1 million followers.

We can't get enough of all professional athletes and franchises stepping up and making themselves heard during a time when they are needed more than ever. The Wizards, however, really went above and beyond here.
