Wizards Reportedly Want Masai Ujiri and He'd Be Freaking Insane to Listen to Them
By Brian Cass

Toronto Raptors front office boss Masa Ujiri is currently in the midst of a Finals run, and is suddenly just one win away from bringing a Canada its first NBA title. But that isn't stopping teams from attempting to poach him-- and it appears that the Washington Wizards are among the teams hoping to get his attention.
Wizards owner Ted Leonsis once lured the great Michael Jordan to come on as President of Basketball Operations in the early 2000s, and he was able to do so by offering him a very lucrative deal that went beyond simply basketball. It seems like he'll try to employ the same strategy in his pursuit of Ujiri.
Ted Leonsis once helped lure Michael Jordan to run the Wizards with a compensation package that went beyond basketball. Sources believe the same playbook may be used in the pursuit of Raptors' Masai Ujiri.https://t.co/RuNT9FdGxm

Jordan may not have any kind of notable success with the Wizards, failing to reach the playoffs in three seasons running the team (to say nothing of his final comeback as a player), but the fact that Leonsis was able to convince him to join his group is remarkable in itself.
But pursuing Ujiri will be a different endeavor. Not only is he about to bring Toronto it's first NBA title, but he's in a great position to further the team's success. It'll be hard for Kawhi Leonard to walk away if they win the chip, and he's proven that he can carry the load. Keeping him in Toronto will make the team a prime destination for free agents looking to be a part of something special, perhaps for years to come.
Washington #Wizards update: They still don’t have a GM after being nine weeks into their search for a new one. The #NBADraft is in 15 days and free agency starts at the end of this month (June 30th at 6:00 PM EST). It would be nice for them to find a GM soon. Soon as in now. LOL

If Ujiri left for the Wizards job, he'd essentially be starting from scratch. It just wouldn't make much sense for him to leave a great situation in Toronto for truly undesirable situation in Washington.
But if Leonsis was able to coax MJ, you've got to believe that anything is possible here.
