Woj Gives Lakers the Edge Over Knicks in Race to Acquire Anthony Davis
By Michael Luciano
After the news broke that New Orleans Pelicans superstar Anthony Davis values the New York Knicks and Los Angeles Lakers above everyone else in terms of a long-term destination, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski claims that there is a presumed leader in the Davis sweepstakes at the moment.
According to Woj, the Lakers are the "leader in the clubhouse" for a potential Davis trade.
“They have the leverage of knowing that Anthony Davis wants to sign with them in free agency in 2020 and the rest of the league knows that and that there’s some risk in trading for Davis,” Wojnarowski said.
While the Lakers' potential trade package isn't exactly the most desirable out there -- Kyle Kuzma, a point guard who can't shoot in Lonzo Ball, and a player with a potentially career-threatening injury in Brandon Ingram are their best assets, after all -- the mutual connection between Davis and LeBron James has led many to speculate that The Brow to LA is a matter of when and not if.
Given the fact that Pelicans GM David Griffin has shown a willingness to include a third team in a potential Davis deal to facilitate a move, it ought to be assumed, at least for now, that AD is more likely to end up in Lakers purple and gold with each passing day.
