World Series Ender Mike Montgomery Sends Heartfelt Farewell to Cubs Fans After Trade to Royals

Mike Montgomery, the southpaw who delivered the most important pitch in Cubs history—the final pitch of the 2016 World Series—won't soon forget his time on the North Side. He sent a heartfelt farewell to the Cubs organization and its fans after being traded to the Kansas City Royals.
In three and a half years with the Cubs, Montgomery was a staple of the Chicago staff, appearing out of the bullpen as well as the starting rotation. Montgomery posted a 3.74 ERA in 119 games, sporting a modest WHIP of 1.33.
The Cubs showed love for Montgomery and his efforts on Twitter as well, thanking him for his contributions during his time in town.
In 20 relief appearances with the Cubs this season, the left-hander is 1-2 with a 5.67 ERA. Montgomery will look to turn his luck around with the Royals, who originally drafted him in 2008.
