Xander Bogaerts Named to AL All-Star Roster as Injury Replacement
By Parker White
You could've made a strong argument for him making it the first time around, but the American League just announced their injury replacements for the All-Star team and Boston Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts is one of them.
Bogaerts will replace Texas Rangers designated hitter Hunter Pence.
Bogaerts is hitting .301 with 16 home runs, and he's leading all MLB shortstops in RBI (58), on-base percentage (.392) and OPS (.933). Those look like All-Star numbers to me.
Joining Bogaerts as injury replacements are Tampa Bay Rays second baseman Brandon Lowe and Minnesota Twins right-handed starter Jose Berrios, who will replace Los Angeles Angels second baseman Tommy La Stella and Minnesota Twins right-handed starter Jake Odorizzi, respectively.
Even with this piece of news and more players heading to Cleveland, you still have fans clamoring for the likes of Boston's Rafael Devers, New York's Gleyber Torres and Baltimore Trey Mancini. All are worthy of this great honor, but there will always be snubs.
