Xavier Rhodes Apologizes After Monday Night Football Tantrum and Acknowledges Poor Play
By Chris Russo
Minnesota Vikings cornerback Xavier Rhodes had a difficult game in the team's 37-30 loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Monday Night Football, but he is trying to make amends for his sideline drama.
During the loss, Rhodes had a meltdown on the sideline that featured him throwing his helmet, which drew criticism from head coach Mike Zimmer.
Rhodes has since apologized to his team, his family, and Zimmer for his actions on Monday night, while admitting that his play must improve.
The veteran cornerback acknowledged he has played poorly, not just against the Seahawks, but throughout the season. He cited penalties as one of his major problems, as was evident when he committed a personal foul against Seattle.
The 29-year-old was also responsible for covering wide receiver David Moore when he hauled in the eventual game-winning 60-yard touchdown pass from Russell Wilson in the fourth quarter.
With the Vikings currently the sixth seed in the NFC Postseason picture and four games remaining in the regular season, there is still time for Rhodes to rediscover his former All-Pro form.
