XFL Releases Official List of Players in 2019 Draft Pool
By Parker White
The XFL confirmed that its draft for the 2020 season will take place on October 15 and 16. Of course, before that happens, they need a defined set of players for franchises to select from.
On Monday, the XFL released the first group of players who will be in the draft pool, and as you can imagine, there are some high-profile names who have either NFL experience or were stars during their college days.
Among most notable players listed are former Oakland Raiders and Michigan State quarterback Connor Cook, former Notre Dame running back Jonas Gray, former Division III star QB and Green Bay Packer Joe Callahan, and former Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Florida State kicker Roberto Aguayo.
Cook has only one game of NFL experience, going 14-21 for 150 yards with one touchdown and one interception. As a Spartan, Cook holds the record for most career wins, which helped him become a fourth round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.
Gray was an undrafted free agent and ended up signing with the Miami Dolphins. He has also played for the Baltimore Ravens and New England Patriots, and in three career NFL seasons, he appeared in 16 games and recorded 134 rushes for 588 yards and five touchdowns.
Aguayo was suppose to be the next great NFL kicker, which is why he was drafted in the second round back in 2016. However, his career went south quickly and he never really recovered after a slew of self-inflicted errors in Tampa.
