VIDEO: XFL Replay System Already Seems Way Better Than NFL's After Just One Game
By Jack Murphy
As football has returned to the televisions of fans around the nation thanks to the XFL, it is not too difficult to pinpoint the differences that exist between the two leagues. The replay system implemented by the XFL is much different than that of the NFL. Quite frankly, the XFL's is arguably much better.
The XFL's replay process on challenge calls is what the NFL should have implemented years ago. Instead of just watching the plays one time at different angles, the review process in the XFL can find the best angle and fast forward and rewind at their leisure. This allows officials to make the correct calls as well as speeding up the review process.
Another feature of the XFL's replay process is the live conversation feed of the guys in the booth with the officiating crew. With this implemented, fans are able to listen in on the decision being made during the call, rather than wondering if it is correct or not when it is being reviewed.
As the XFL has adopted many quirky rules and ideas to differentiate themselves from the NFL, this is one that is sure a step up from their pro-football counterparts. Maybe the NFL can take notes.
