We Have Our First In-Season XFL Trade Between the LA Wildcats and DC Defenders
By Sean Facey
After a first week filled with exciting play on the field, we now have some XFL action coming from the front offices as well.
The DC Defenders have shipped cornerback Bradley Sylve to the Los Angeles Wildcats in exchange for linebacker Anthony Johnson in the first in-season swap between teams in the fledgling league.
It's a fairly notable deal considering Sylve actually had a game-sealing pick-six in Week 1 to help the Defenders earn their first-ever win over the Seattle Dragons.
For the Wildcats, it's just the latest change to a defense that showed it still had plenty of work to do after the first game of the season. They previously parted ways with defensive coordinator Pepper Johnson following the loss.
We'll see if this opens the floodgates for more in-season trades between teams, which would truly create more hype around the league.
If nothing else, this is a major step forward for the XFL. It shows that there's more to the league than weekend football in the spring.
