Yankee Fans Shouldn't Expect to See Luis Severino in 2019 After Latest Update From Brian Cashman

Yankees fans expecting to see their first glimpse of Luis Severino this season are going to be bitterly disappointed with GM Brian Cashman's latest update.

Severino has not thrown an MLB pitch this season thanks to some rotator cuff inflammation and a lat strain, and Cashman now claims that he will need "six or more" weeks before a return to action can even be considered.

At this point, biting the bullet and shutting him down for the rest of 2019 might actually be the best option rather than playing this infuriating guessing game.

At just 25 years old, losing a season of Sevy's prime while the team is competing for a World Series is immeasurably disappointing, especially after the rotation this year has been as helter skelter as any the AL East at times.

Aaron Boone needs to decide if having Severino at 70% of his full effectiveness and for 75 pitches a night is better than just not having him at all.

While some Yankee fans are still holding out hope for a cameo from either Severino or star reliever Dellin Betances late in this season, Severino's lat might make that dream unrealistic. And for the sake of his long-term viability, they may have to end up being the best thing.
