Giancarlo Stanton's injury-riddled 2019 season continues, as he suffered a quad injury during Game 1 of the 2019 ALCS while running down the first base line, according to manager Aaron Boone.

Luckily for the New York Yankees, he didn't seem to be bothered much by that injury, as he laced a home run the other way in his second at-bat after straining the quad.

Maybe the quad injury unlocked his power stroke? Baseball is weird.

Stanton is not likely to miss a significant portion of the ALCS against the Houston Astros. While he will not be in the starting lineup for Game 2, Boone did say that he would be available as a pinch-hitting option if the need arose.

After being mocked relentlessly on Twitter by ungrateful Yankee fans, Stanton finally had a signature performance in the postseason. His opportunities to replicate that could be few and far between if this quad strain is believed to be more serious than they first indicated.

Bottom line is, if Stanton is pulled from the ALCS roster, he can't come back for a hypothetical World Series. The Yanks have every reason to try to keep him active.
