VIDEO: Aaron Boone Talks With Ryan Ruocco and CC Sabathia About Keeping in Touch With Yankees Players
By Michael Luciano
New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone is struggling to keep in touch with his friends and co-workers during the coronavirus pandemic, just like all of us. Unfortunately, Boone's "co-workers" are a Yankees team expected to hit the ground running and pursue a championship when the season starts up again. Boone detailed on the "R2C2" podcast how difficult it has been to stay in touch with everyone, although he asserted that he thinks he and bullpen coach Mike Harkey have done a good job of checking in with all of their studs.
One particular highlight of Boone's quarantine was FaceTiming first baseman Luke Voit, who answered the phone with his hat on backwards and no shirt on, at his Missouri home.
Boone mentioned that he did play catch with $324 million signing and ace starting pitcher Gerrit Cole, as he and Boone live close to one another.
If baseball fans collectively adhere to procedures that can help flatten the curve, we could get baseball back sooner rather than later. For now, however, Boone and the rest of the Yankees are staying inside while doing the best they can to stay in constant contact.
