Aaron Boone Gives Positive Injury Update on Aaron Hicks' Tommy John Rehab Out of Nowhere
By Adam Weinrib
There are millions of negatives surrounding the depressingly delayed start of the MLB season, but there's one unintended consequence in Yankee land -- some of their myriad injuries may actually work themselves out by the time the season opens.
While Aaron Judge's ribs are still on the mend, per Aaron Boone, another Yankees outfielder is making significant progress. When's the last time you considered Aaron Hicks? Per Boonie, he's actually already throwing after undergoing TJS.
Get the hose back up and running! No better use of your downtime, Hicksy.
A mid-summer arrival is likely still the best-case scenario for Hicks, but with a potential Opening Day becoming a June or July staple this time around, all we can do is hope for positive updates on a proper timeline. Already throwing before the beginning of April certainly qualifies as such.
The last time Hicks was on the field, he was electric, giving his best efforts to take down the Astros in the 2019 ALCS, even while harboring this injury that eventually required surgery.
Hicks is a patient gamer, and if he returns to the game just about the time the game itself returns this summer, that'd be huge news for the Yanks.
