Aaron Judge Aggressively Pushing Himself When MLB Season is Bound to Be Delayed is Insanity
By Scott Rogust
There's a dark cloud of uncertainty surrounding the status of professional sports leagues due to the coronavirus pandemic, and it of course includes Major League Baseball. The NBA has suspended its season, but it's unknown what commissioner Rob Manfred will decide upon.
Even so, New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge is working his way back from a rib injury. And by "working his way back," we mean Judge himself said he's aggressively working out at the gym to return in time for Opening Day.
Aaron, no.
You can admire Judge's motivation and desire to heal up from an injury so he can suit up with his teammates. However, it's a bit crazy that he's going to these extreme lengths, as the MLB season is bound to be delayed due to the virus outbreak.
The NBA was the first huge domino to fall, as Gobert testing positive led to commissioner Adam Silver temporarily putting a halt to operations. The NHL is bound to follow suit, considering a majority of teams share arenas with their NBA counterparts. MLS has suspended its season effective immediately.
Look, we get it. Judge is a beast and wants to do his best for this club. However, considering both the Yankees' injury woes the past two years and the current global pandemic surrounding COVID-19, it's not a wise decision.
MLB players should stop what they're doing, and wait for Manfred to make a final decision before things get worse.
