The New York Yankees have the best record in the American League at 72-39, and a huge reason for that is their dominance at home.

Including their four-game sweep against the Boston Red Sox over the weekend, New York is tied with the Los Angeles Dodgers for the most home wins (43) in baseball.

Over their last 17 home series dating back to April, the Yankees have won 15 of them and tied two two-game sets. Talk about dominance.

The Yankees are a solid road team (29-21), but they've clearly shown how superior they are when playing at Yankee Stadium as opposed to anywhere else, making it obvious they better win home-field advantage in the postseason if they want to make an October run to remember.

Obviously, the offense benefits from the short porch in right field, but the starting pitching staff is way better at home. For instance, Masahiro Tanaka and James Paxton's have ERA's over 4.00 for the season, but at home, Tanaka owns a 3.29 ERA over 13 starts and Paxton owns a 3.67 ERA over 11 starts.

Oh, and if CC Sabathia has to start in October, make sure it's at home because over eight starts he owns a 2.60 ERA.
