Yankees Acquire Slugger Kendrys Morales From A's
By Michael Luciano

With yet ANOTHER Miguel Andujar injury just a week after he returned from the IL, the Yankees are dipping into the discarded veteran pool to replace that level of power.
The Yankees have acquired slugger Kendrys Morales, who was just recently DFA'd by the Oakland Athletics, in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations.

To make room on the 40-man roster, RHP Jonathan Loaisiga has been transferred to the 60-day IL.
While a 36-year-old who can only DH with a .204 batting average and one home run doesn't look like the most attractive signing in the world, this was someone who hit a home run in seven consecutive games last season, so he still has some power left in the tank.
While no one is expected him to come in and be Jason Giambi, Morales can hit the ball out of the ballpark. If you can do that, you'll have a spot waiting for you on this Yankees team
Brian Cashman is active yet again. According to the Yankees, they just traded either a player to be named later or cash considerations to Oakland for DH/1B Kendrys Morales and more cash.

He may not be a permanent replacement for Andujar, but he's certainly a much better option than a Triple-A player or a random veteran free agent castoff that can hold down the fort until the cavalry comes.
