Yankees Activate Giancarlo Stanton to Start Against Angels on Wednesday
By Michael Luciano
After what felt like an eternity, the New York Yankees finally have their monstrous left fielder back in the lineup.
Giancarlo Stanton will take the field for the first time since late June, playing left field and hitting fifth against the Los Angeles Angels on Wednesday night.
Injuries have limited Stanton, in the middle of his second year in pinstripes, to just nine games, in which he has hit .290 with one home run.
While the likes of Brett Gardner, Mike Tauchman, and Cameron Maybin did a more than adequate job of filling in for Stanton, there's no denying how he can change the complexion of a lineup or the outcome of a game with one thunderous swing of his bat.
A lineup with Aaron Judge, DJ LeMahieu, Gleyber Torres and Gio Urshela didn't need Stanton urgently, but him being back in the heart of the order is certainly going to be a concern for the likes of the Astros, Twins, and the rest of the playoff-bound AL teams.
