VIDEO: Alex Rodriguez Reveals Comical Story Behind 'Accidental' 2013 Home Run He Hit Against the Red Sox
By Sam Dunn

On August 18, 2013, the New York Yankees paid a visit to the hated Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. Baseball was still abuzz with news that Alex Rodriguez had been suspended my the MLB for testing positive for PEDs, but as he was appealing the suspension, he was permitted to play. That didn't sit too well with Red Sox starter Ryan Dempster, who drilled A-Rod in the second inning of the game after throwing behind him. Rodriguez would later homer and help lead the Yanks to victory, but that's not the whole story -- as he explained in an Instagram Live video Sunday, he wasn't even trying to go yard. All he wanted to do was knock the hat off Dempster's head.
Alex Rodriguez recounts his home run in 2013 after being drilled by Ryan Dempster:

"What I was trying to do was hit the ball right back at his cap to hit him in the forehead. I missed, and ended up hitting the ball to center field" ? pic.twitter.com/M2rSGYEGY4
One of those happy accidents, you know?
All told, the Red Sox would have the last laugh, as they ended the 2013 season as World Series champions. But don't think that Rodriguez didn't savor every bit of this one as he watched that ball fly into the center field seats.
Naturally, Dempster was supended after this game for his aggressive action toward A-Rod.
He didn't appeal the league's decision.
