Yankees and Rays Have Inquired Recently About Injured Ken Giles
By Adam Weinrib

Despite Ken Giles' ongoing elbow dysfunction, it appears two contenders from within Toronto's own division haven't been dissuaded from at least asking some leading questions.
Per Ken Rosenthal, New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays are among the teams that have recently reached out to Toronto regarding Giles' availability despite repeated elbow issues that seem to have taken him off the market in the minds of many.
#BlueJays’ Ken Giles remains in play after receiving a cortisone shot in his elbow yesterday. #Yankees, #Rays have at least inquired, sources say.

An interesting idea that's been floated around recently involves packing Daniel Hudson with Giles, in an effort to add more juice to the deal, as well as give interested parties a reliever who can pitch in immediately while they wait for such unappealing issues to resolve themselves.
Wonder if Jays may try to package Giles (with lower value) and Hudson. https://t.co/2rZqJ2Cw0y

Giles was having an exemplary season before this recent bout with injury, striking out 58 in 35 innings pitched. He's best known by Yankee fans for being the Houston reliever so aggravated by allowing a Gary Sanchez home run that he punched himself in the face repeatedly. But could begin to change in earnest if he ends up doning pinstripes.
