Yankees Announce Stephen Tarpley Will Start on Sunday in London Along With Latest Roster Move
By Will Fowler
When they boarded their flight to London, the New York Yankees surely had a pitching outlook of sorts.
Well, after a series opener that saw 30 runs, 37 hits, and 16 pitchers, it's safe to say all plans have been thrown out the window.
In fact, a potential starter for New York on Sunday -- Nestor Cortes, Jr. -- ended up throwing 58 pitches over three innings for the Yankees today, removing him from consideration. In his place is lefty Stephen Tarpley, who has spent most of his 2019 season at Triple-A Scranton. Tarpley is set to start an 'opener' for New York.
As a corresponding move, Cortes, Jr. was sent back to Scranton after emptying the tank. Chance Adams is expected to take his place on the special 26-man roster.
On Saturday, we saw one of the most fascinating games in the history of the Yankees - Red Sox rivalry. Will we get an encore on Sunday morning?
