Yankees Are Getting Destroyed on Twitter for Lineup Against White Sox
By Parker White
The New York Yankees defeated the Chicago White Sox on Saturday, and they'll head into Sunday's matchup with a chance to even up the series at 2-2 before heading back home to begin a 10-game homestand.
While a lot of teams bring out their "B" squad on Sundays, the Yankees are doing that and then some. Check out today's lineup, which is getting scrutinized by fans on Twitter.
The top third of the lineup isn't out of the ordinary, as DJ LeMahieu, Luke Voit and Gleyber Torres are leading the way. However, once you get past Clint Frazier in the cleanup spot, manager Aaron Boone is going with light-hitting outfielder Brett Gardner, who in the month of June is hitting a woeful .167 with a .668 OPS.
Austin Romine is getting the start behind the dish in today's matinee, and you also have Mike Tauchman and Cameron Maybin rounding out the starting outfield. No Didi Gregorius, Aaron Hicks or Gary Sanchez?
One omission that also has fans baffled is the newly acquired Edwin Encarnacion, as he won't join the team until tomorrow in the Bronx.
This is not New York's Grade-A lineup that will lead to a lot of wins, but they have James Paxton on the mound, who will look to rebound after a brutal outing against the New York Mets.
Maybe they'll surprise everyone and string together enough runs to grab the series finale.
