Yankees Breakout Starter Domingo German Eyeing Return for Mets Series
By Sean Facey
The Yankees might not have to go much longer without one of their most reliable starters, and hopefully his stint on the IL has reversed course on his regression.
Domingo German, who is currently on the shelf with a hip flexor strain, is set to make a rehab start in Triple-A Scranton and could return to action for the Yankees' series against the Mets.
He was spotted running the bases and hitting as well.
German had quietly been one of the most effective pitchers in New York's arsenal prior to his injury. He's 9-2 in 13 games this year with a 3.86 ERA, adding 77 strikeouts and just 19 walks.
In his absence since June 7, the Yankees' rotation has been mediocre at best, posting a combined 4.43 ERA in 14 starts. His return would provide some much-needed assistance to the starting staff.
Injuries have been a common presence for New York in 2019, but they've gotten by just swimmingly in spite of them.
Players like German have played a pivotal role in stopping the bleeding that came with major injuries to stars like Luis Severino. Now, his return is in sight.
