The New York Yankees might be on the verge of losing one of their leaders in the clubhouse as well as a starting outfielder.

Brett Gardner is once again a free agent, and multiple teams are willing to give the veteran outfielder a multi-year contract in order to lure him away from the Yankees.

Gardner, who has spent his entire 11-year career with the Yankees, has made the transition from base-stealing slap hitter to legit power threat, as he managed to club 28 home runs last season, topping his old career-high of 21. Even with that extra pop, he still remains a terrific defensive outfielder and a threat on the base paths.

Despite this wave of interest from other clubs, the 36-year-old Gardner still prefers to sign with Aaron Boone and the Yankees.

Gardner was only really thrust into action last year because of the Yankees injury crisis, and a multi-year contract outside of the Bronx could guarantee him playing time. However, that could all be rendered moot if he decides to one again rejoin the Bronx Bombers and accept a backup role in their quest for title No. 28.
