VIDEO: It's the Anniversary of Yankees Legend CC Sabathia Joining the 3,000 Strikeout Club

CC Sabathia will go down as one of the greatest left-handed pitchers of this century, and for good reason. He's a Cy Young Award winner and a World Series champion. What else could he have done to add to his legacy? Well, on April 30, 2019, Sabathia joined the 3,000 strikeout club at the expense of Arizona Diamondbacks catcher JR Murphy.
You know you're a special player when the opposing fans at Chase Field starts giving you a standing ovation. That's how great of a player Sabathia was.
This was the highlight of CC's 2019 campaign. He was hampered with countless injuries, but he kept pushing himself back because of his desire to win a second World Series championship. Unfortunately, Sabathia suffered a dislocated shoulder in Game 4 of the ALCS against the Houston Astros. The Yankees would eventually drop the series in six games, and Sabathia would announce his retirement shortly afterwards.
Although his career ended under less than ideal circumstances, Sabathia will always have the memory of recording his 3,000th strikeout in his final MLB season one year ago today. And you'd best believe that this clip will be in his Hall of Fame highlight reel five years down the line.
