Yankees' Dellin Betances Won't Need Achilles Surgery and Will Wear Walking Boot for 4 Weeks
By Karl Rasmussen

In perhaps the most crushing injury news of the season, Dellin Betances suffered a partially torn Achilles while celebrating a strikeout in his first major league appearance of the season. It's a truly emotional injury, considering the hurler spent the entire year working back from various other ailments and setbacks.
Well, he won't be pitching again in 2019, but fortunately the star reliever is not expected to need surgery to repair his Achilles. Betances got a second opinion on the injury and was advised against surgery, and instead will be wearing a walking boot for four weeks.

Betances is expected to make his return to the mound by Spring Training next year, so hopefully he'll be able to contribute to the Yankees' 2020 campaign.
He initially picked up an injury in Spring Training, which sidelined him for the start of the season. While rehabbing, the right-hander struggled with various setbacks, further delaying his return to MLB soil.
Prior to tonight’s game, the Yankees:

• Reinstated OF Giancarlo Stanton from the 60-day IL.
• Placed RHP Dellin Betances on the 60-day IL with a partial tear of the left Achilles’ tendon.
Additionally, RHP Ryan Dull was claimed off waivers by Toronto.
Fortunately, Betances won't require surgery, and while he'll be confined to the boot for a month, it's better than the lengthy recovery that comes with a typical Achilles surgery.
The saddest part is this could be the last of Betances Yankees fans see because he'll be a free agent this offseason.
