Conflicting Reports Emerge About Domingo German's Involvement in Car Accident in Dominican Republic
By Jerry Trotta
Some disturbing news on emerged on Friday concerning the health of another New York Yankee, only the circumstances here very much involved life and death.
Domingo German, who emerged as a star for the club last season, was reportedly involved in a car accident in the Dominican Republic. Thankfully, reports indicate that the 27-year-old right-hander escaped the incident unharmed, though two were injured in the wreck.
However, per German's reps, he wasn't in the car at the time, and simply rushed to the scene to help a friend who was involved in the wreck.
The Yankees have opted to keep the suspended Domingo German away from the team during Spring Training. German, of course, has 63 games left to serve of his 81-game ban levied by MLB for violating its domestic violence policy. It's understood that the fourth-year pro has been working out at the organization's academy in his native Dominican Republic.
Further updates confirm that German wasn't harmed, but his girlfriend reportedly suffered a broken arm, and another unnamed third party sustained a knee injury.
We'll provide more relevant updates on the accident should they materialize, but as of this writing, it appears as though Domingo escaped unscathed and no lives were lost.
