Yankees Expected to Be Without Giancarlo Stanton for All of July
By Thomas Carannante
It's been a rough season on the injury front for the New York Yankees, but Giancarlo Stanton has caught the brunt of it.
The man has had four different injuries since the beginning of Spring Training and hasn't been able to sniff the field on a consistent basis. He's played in just nine games, and that number won't increase any time soon based on general manager Brian Cashman's latest update.
Woof. Don't expect to see Stanton in July. I guess that's what Yankee fans get for booing him in his return?
Nonetheless, this is yet another scenario where the organization feels it can take its time. There's no need to rush Stanton back from his latest ailment -- a PCL strain -- especially considering how the team has been slugging and winning without him. Sure, they could use him to really bring their production over the top, but this is a $325 million man we're talking about. Why not take all the time you need when your lineup was already feared without Stanton and Aaron Judge?
It's certainly a bummer, especially for Stanton, who had been working hard to get back, only to experience countless unexpected bumps in the road.
The good news is that he'll be back for the final stretch of the season and that's when the Yankees will need him most. After all, the Yankees have their sights set on a championship.
