Gary Sanchez and Edwin Encarnacion Almost Definitely Hitting IL After Latest Lineup Card Reveal

The New York Yankees enter Friday night's game against the Toronto Blue Jays without Gary Sanchez or Edwin Encarnacion in the starting lineup. That was expected, as both players suffered an injury on Thursday against the Detroit Tigers.

The severity and how long they might be out is still unknown. Maybe it's not that serious and they won't need an IL stint, right?

Well, if this lineup card is any indication, they are going to miss at least the next 10 days.

Neither Sanchez or Encarnacion are available Friday night, so their absence from the active roster would make you believe they are hitting the shelf and will miss some time.

Encarnacion suffered an oblique injury in the first game of the doubleheader, so he could be done for the season, and Sanchez injured his groin in the second game.

Of course, Sanchez's injury could've been avoided if he didn't play in the second game against the lowly Tigers and wasn't attempting to steal second base, for whatever reason.

Aaron Judge is also on the bench after slamming the wall, as well as wincing on an earlier home run. Nothing to see here!
