Gary Sanchez Likely Won't Play Until Friday While Managing His Back Pain and That's Classic Yankees
By Adam Weinrib

Chris Iannetta might be the latest afterthought to have to book some last-minute housing in the NYC area, as Gary Sanchez became the latest Yankee to enter the Injury Concerns vortex this weekend.
Sanchez played back-to-back games for the first time all spring on Friday, and naturally, that was enough to knock him off-kilter, as he took himself out of BP and game action on Saturday while nursing a sore back.
The slugging catcher was supposed to take Sunday off and play Monday, but now it seems like that won't happen.

Oh, cool!
As of now, there are no MRIs scheduled for Sanchez, but we're sure he'll undergo a battery of tests at some point, only to find out he has SARS that's collected in the lower back.
See, that's what happens with the Yankees these days. Minor tweaks and soreness become shattered ribs and surgeries. If Aaron Boone says you're healthy enough to play after a few days off, you might want to start looking into cheap funeral options.
Sanchez said that he does not know if his new catching stance is responsible for the back discomfort.

If a new stance meant to improve his poor defense is the root cause of newfound back pain, then we give up.
Sanchez is entirely correct that the time to handle minor aggravation with caution is Spring Training, but forgive us if we're thinking a little bigger. It's just the way we're conditioned, at this point.
