Yankees Announce Massive List of People Attending Gerrit Cole Press Conference Wednesday
By Michael Luciano
The New York Yankees will finally unveil this offseason's big fish free agent, as Gerrit Cole will don the legendary pinstripes for the first time at a press conference Wednesday, officially slated for 11:00 am.
Among those who will attend the unveiling of the former Houston Astros and Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher are manager Aaron Boone, GM Brian Cashman, new pitching coach Matt Blake, and Scott Boras, Cole's agent.
Cole, who went 20-5 with a 2.50 ERA and an AL-best 326 strikeouts in 2019, joined the Yankees on a nine-year contract worth $324 million dollars that will pay him $36 million per season for the duration of his deal.
News broke that Cole intended to sign with the Yankees last week, but there was speculation that the Yankees needed to free up a roster spot to make his contract official. However, just days later, with no move yet made, Cole will be unveiled as a Yankee. That makes these next 20 hours potentially critical.
No need to pinch yourself, Yankees fans. You are not dreaming. In just a few hours, Gerrit Cole will put on the pinstripes.
