Gerrit Cole Working Out With Adam Ottavino in Yankees Hat is Quarantine Gold for Bronx Bombers Fans
By Scott Rogust
The start of the 2020 MLB regular season should have happened over a week ago. Yet, as we all know, the sporting world remains on hold due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
No fan base was more hyped for the upcoming season than that of the New York Yankees, as they finally caught their proverbial white whale in ace pitcher Gerrit Cole. The addition of the former Pittsburgh Pirate and Houston Astro makes the Yankees strong favorites to claim the American League pennant. And while Bronx Bombers fans anxiously await the start of the season while stuck in quarantine, Yankees reliever Adam Ottavino gave the fan base a nice jolt by sharing a few photos on Instagram.
A glimmer of hope for those baseball fans currently dealing with cabin fever.
Fans of the Yankees got a glimpse of just what Cole can bring during Spring Training action. In four games, the ace struck out 13 batters in nine innings of work. That's all we would see of him throwing in a Yankee cap due to the suspension of baseball activities. That makes today's update from Ottavino that much more meaningful.
Once things return to normal, the long wait will make Cole's Yankee debut that much sweeter.
There's light at the end of the tunnel, Yankees fans. Just hold on, folks -- and keep checking Adam Ottavino's IG feed!
