VIDEO: Giancarlo Stanton Spotted Taking Surprise BP Session Against Adam Ottavino
By Jerry Trotta

New York Yankees fans continue to hold their collective breaths, as they wait for an update on the recovery of slugger Giancarlo Stanton, who has been shelved at Spring Training since Feb. 26 with a calf strain. Stanton provided some encouraging insight on his status this week, claiming he should begin running in the next few days. Well, it turns out that the former NL MVP feels well enough to get some swings in, as he was spotted taking live batting practice against reliever Adam Ottavino.

Alright, whose idea was it to let a rusty and hobbled Stanton bat against one of the filthiest hurlers in the MLB? Ottavino would bamboozle any world-beater in his first BP since suffering a lower leg injury.
Bronx buffs should digress after looking at Stanton's less-than-attractive cuts and just be encouraged to see him out there. After all, he wasn't at all expected to be hitting this soon.
Giancarlo Stanton (right calf strain) will resume throwing and hitting tee-and-toss today. He's also continuing to run on an anti-gravity treadmill.

With Opening Day less than two weeks away, Stanton is clearly motivated to get cleared for action, and this clip suggests that will happen sooner than expected.
