VIDEO: Giancarlo Stanton Drills BP Home Run off Scoreboard in First Official Spring Training Workout
By Adam Weinrib
After the New York Yankees made do with very little Giancarlo Stanton during their 103-win season in 2019, they would enjoy a much larger contribution this time around. The Yanks are reloaded, as well as finally adequately prepared on the mound, and a healthy Stanton launching regular-season blasts off the scoreboard could raise their potential ceiling and fear factor significantly. Just one day into Spring Training, we have one glorious moonshot at the front of our minds.
The 30-year-old Stanton was hoping to make a statement in Year 2 in the Bronx, but instead was mostly left releasing statements about why he wasn't participating. He hit .288 with a trio of homers in just 18 games amid multiple IL stints, then returned to drill an ALCS homer before bowing out of that series with an injury as well.
Year 3 had better be the year, as far as many Yankee supporters are concerned.
