Yankees' Gio Urshela Diagnosed With Mild Ankle Sprain After Examination in Texas
By Ryan Flores

The New York Yankees simply cannot escape injury, even on the final day of the regular season. In what was supposed to be the Yanks' final tuneup before the playoffs, third baseman Gio Urshela was forced to leave Sunday's finale against the Texas Rangers after suffering an ankle injury.
Urshela suffered the injury after fielding a ground ball by Rangers third baseman Nick Solak and, luckily, it appears the issue will not keep him out of ALDS play -- Urshela was diagnosed with a mild ankle sprain, with no further tests scheduled.
Mild left ankle sprain for Gio Urshela. Seen by docs at Texas, no tests made and none scheduled. Removed for precautionary reason according to Yankees.

Yes, he'll be ready for October.
Urshela will be fine for The ALDS, Boone says.

And, per his manager, he wouldn't have even left the game, if it had any meaning.
Urshela could have stayed in the game if it wasn’t meaningless game No. 162, Boone says

Urshela has been one of the most pleasant surprises for the Yankees this year, breaking out with a .315 batting average to go with 21 homers and 74 runs batted in, as well as a 132 wRC+.
Watching Gio Urshela play third base all season was a privilege. I feel bad for the people that didn’t enjoy it because some stat told them not to pic.twitter.com/p7Z7lkgJYX

The Yanks desperately need all hands on deck for their ALDS matchup against the Minnesota Twins on Friday. If Urshela somehow takes a turn for the worse, that'd be a monstrous loss. Luckily, it seems the Yankees have averted disaster.
