Gleyber Torres' Latest Tweet Will Make Yankee Fans Miss Baseball Even More
By Michael Luciano
New York Yankees second baseman Gleyber Torres, who has seen his coronation as an MLB superstar in the 2020 MLB season delayed due to the coronavirus, is as eager as any person out there to return to action.
Feeling nostalgic about the highly successful 2019 season, Torres posted a picture of him alongside DJ LeMahieu and Gio Urshela, tempting Yankees fans with a glimpse at what the team's standout infield will look like in 2020.
That trio combined for 85 home runs and 274 RBI in 2019, with LeMahieu and Torres both being named All-Stars.
The loss of Didi Gregorius for a good chunk of the season would have been a death knell for most teams, but the unparalleled infield depth of the Yankees helped them survive in 2019.
The Houston Astros and their trash cans might have ended the Yankees' hopes for a 28th championship, but fans seem to be optimistic that this group can run it back and take home a title in Torres' third season.
Torres, like anyone who truly lives and breathes Yankees baseball, is counting down the days before the freeze on MLB games is lifted and we can finally see the Venezuelan star smack a hanging breaking ball 450 feet into the left center-field stands. If baseball fans continue to work on flattening the curve, and the players union hashes out all the financial concerns, that might become a reality fairly soon.
