Joe Girardi was one of the hottest commodities in the early offseason as teams looked to lock down a new manager, and he ended up joining the Phillies, replacing Gabe Kapler.

Well, the hire was highly regarded by just about everyone across the league, and one man in particular had some great things to say about Girardi. Yankees GM Brian Cashman had nothing but praise for his former skipper, and wished him well in his new job.

"He's been a winner his entire career, and so I would expect nothing but the same is going to continue there in Philadelphia," Cashman said.

Well, Phillies fans, there's arguably no one better to give such a warm description of Girardi than the Yankees GM. Girardi was the Yankees skipper for 10 years, winning a title in 2009.

Cashman fully expects him to continue his winning ways in Philly, so perhaps he can bring the team to the postseason, and hopefully compete for a title within a few seasons.

This will be Girardi's third managerial gig in the league, having already been skipper for the Marlins and Yanks. He's got the confidence of his former GM, and hopefully the results will follow him to his new city.
