VIDEO: Yankees GM Brian Cashman Gets Swole in 80s-Style Home Workout Clip
By Nick Porr
With gyms across the country closing due to the coronavirus pandemic, keeping in shape has never been a harder task. Thankfully, the New York Yankees are here to help. On Wednesday afternoon, the New York Yankees' Twitter account shared an old-school workout instructional video, starring general manager Brian Cashman and strength coach Brett McCabe.
Look at Cash lift that backpack! We know he's usually compared to a ninja because of his stealth moves, but he can straight up power through a task, too.
The hilariously awkward video, complete with a grainy filter and synth-filled music, imitates home workout video tapes, which were popular in the 1980s.
"Mega Cash" and company do give serious tips for an equipment-less workout. One of the most useful was their use of a heavy backpack as a substitute for a dumbbell during a dumbell row exercise.
The lighthearted nature of their video comes at a good time, as Yankees fans are currently mourning the loss of the team's co-owner Hank Steinbrenner, as well as the ongoing absence of live sports.
Without being able to go to a gym to work out, Americans have been forced to get a little creative with their routines. Thanks to Cashman and McCabe, there's now at least one more option out there for how to get ripped from home.
