Yankees Great Don Larsen Dies at 90 After Battle With Cancer
Don Larsen spent five seasons with the New York Yankees from 1955-1959 and played his best baseball while in the Bronx.
The man who threw the only perfect game in World Series history has reportedly passed away at the age of 90 after a battle with esophageal cancer.
Larsen was in hospice care in Hayden, Idaho when he passed.
Larsen will forever be remembered for his perfect game in the 1956 World Series. He was named the 1956 World Series MVP and would later go on to win another Fall Classic with the Yankees in 1958.
The Yankees legend spent 14 seasons in the majors on a total of seven teams. While he will be remembered most for his World Series moments, he had himself a nice overall career and was honored by the Yankees for the remainder of his life. He pitched his best games in the spotlight of October, having logged a 2.75 ERA in 10 World Series outings.
Forever immortalized by his 1956 heroics, the baseball world mourns the passing of the 90-year-old. Our thoughts go out to his family and friends.
