Yankees Hitting Instructor Rachel Balkovec Leading Way With Coronavirus Relief Fund
By Michael Luciano

Rachel Balkovec, the first full-time female on-field instructor in the history of the New York Yankees, will have to wait quite awhile before she can resume her on-field work due to the spread of the coronavirus. Rather than shut everything down, Balkovec is trying her best at launching a fund that helps those affected by the pandemic.
Balkovec launched the "Humans for Humans during COVID-19" fund that is seeking to help provide meals for the families of those affected by the disease.
MLB is on break. Time to go to work for others. I’m pledging $5 per day that we’re off to COVID relief. If you can’t donate, stay away from crowds, eat your veggies and call your Mom. If you can, click the link to learn more: https://t.co/DW33vegilG

So far, the fund has raised just over $1,000, with Balkovec herself pledging to donate $5 every day until the season resumes.
Between Balkovec's selfless act and Jason Heyward's move to donate $200,000 to local organizations in Chicago, the MLB community has shown a willingness to rally together and fight his common enemy.
Thanks for sharing @MLB First week of donations goes to feeding kids that are at home that would’ve gotten meals at school. It’s not our problem, but it is our responsibility. Be a good human. ♥️⚾️ https://t.co/B7dIekgLiL

While actions like these are just a small part of what can and should be an extremely comprehensive relief fund organized by the baseball world, they are certainly a great place to start. You can donate to Balkovec's fund behind this link.
