Yankees Get Modestly Positive Injury Update on Gary Sanchez, Edwin Encarnación and Aaron Judge
By Ryan Giglio
Believe it or not, there's actually some non-devastating news regarding injuries for the 2019 New York Yankees.
Manager Aaron Boone provided updates on Gary Sanchez, Edwin Encarnación and Aaron Judge before Friday's game against the Blue Jays, with none of the three sluggers making tonight's starting lineup.
Sanchez left the second game of Thursday's doubleheader early with what the Yankees are calling a strained groin. However, the scary thing is that Sanchez said this injury feels similar to the one that cost him 16 games earlier in the season.
Encarnación, on the other hand, is dealing with a mild internal oblique strain after leaving the first game of Thursday's twin bill. The slugger has been banged up since joining the Yankees and just returned from the IL.
The best news for the Bombers? That Judge is fine.
Boone told reporters that Judge is getting a regular day off after playing 18 innings on Thursday.
It is only a matter of time before the Yankees clinch the AL East, so they might want to think about resting some of their stars as the regular season winds down.
