MLB Opening Day is fast approaching, and considering we are just a couple of weeks away from the big day, roster decisions have to be made to trim teams down to 26 players. The New York Yankees got a head start on that Monday.

Yankees PR revealed via Twitter that the team made a plethora of roster moves prior to Monday's spring training game.

Right-handed pitcher Brooks Kriske, a pivotal reliever for the Double-A Trenton Thunder last season, has been optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Trenton, meanwhile, will be gaining two top-tier prospects in outfielder Estevan Florial (ranked No. 6 in their pipeline) and pitcher Albert Abreu. Florial is slowly rising up the farm system, as last season in Single-A, the 22-year-old hit eight home runs and 38 RBI, while recording a .237 batting average and a .680 OPS. As for Abreu, he returns to Trenton for a second consecutive year. In 2019, the 24-year-old recorded a 4.28 ERA on a 5-8 record.

Two top-of-the-line right-handed pitchers in Luis Gil (No. 5 in the organization) and Luis Medina (No. 10) will report to Single-A Tampa. Gil accumulated a 2.72 ERA and 5-5 record last season in 2019, while Medina struggled, posting a bloated 5.47 ERA and 1-8 win-loss tally in 22 games.

As for No. 7-ranked Alexander Vizcaino, he will report to minor league camp alongside Domingo Acevedo.

It might not happen in 2020, but these names will eventually get their coveted big league call-up in the not-too-distant future.
