VIDEO: Yankees' Commentator Michael Kay Backs Red Sox Over Sign-Stealing Accusations
Are the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox actually in agreement on a topic? In what may be the first time the bitter rivals have been on the same page about something since the Babe Ruth trade over 100 years ago, the Red Sox seemingly have backing from someone in the Yanks' camp in regards to their sign-stealing scandal. Here are the words from announcer Michael Kay on his talk show earlier.
The minute he said "and I'm going to defend the Red Sox", Kay should've been internally prepared for all hell to break lose.
Both the Sox and Houston Astros came under fire for sign-stealing after Ken Rosenthal's Athletic article exposed the franchises for their roles in spying on opposing team dugouts, in efforts to seize knowledge of strategies using video technology.
The MLB is currently conducting investigations into both clubs, and will reportedly hand down severe sanctions to each -- with Houston likely on the worse end of punishments.
Regardless of Kay's opinions, both teams will face consequences, that's for sure. Kay himself may have to brace for some harsh backlash from the Yankee faithful after these comments.
