The New York Yankees grabbed the proverbial golden goose of the MLB offseason in the form of AL Cy Young runner up Gerrit Cole. Following his emotional introductory press conference, Yankee fans are fired up at their potential for 2020 and beyond.

Make no mistake about it, the Bronx Bombers are the World Series favorites next year with Cole added to their starting rotation. Now, since the opportunity has arisen and the door is wide open, it's time to make it overkill for the other 29 teams in the league.

How can the Yankees further increase their odds of raising the Commissioner's Trophy? That's by trading for either third baseman Nolan Arenado or shortstop Francisco Lindor.

We know what you're thinking. How can you bring in either of these players without overhauling the infield? Simple. The Yankees have so much depth, they can essentially plug and play their infielders at any position.

In Arenado's case, he'd obviously man the hot corner, and Gio Urshela can switch to first/super utility. That's one hell of an insurance policy against an Urshela regression.

What if the Yankees acquire Lindor instead of Arenado? Lindor would play his usual position at short, while Gleyber Torres would move over to second base, like he did throughout his career when playing alongside Didi Gregorius. Urshela would continue to play at third, while DJ LeMahieu mans first base.

The Yankees were two games away from reaching their first World Series in a decade, yet fell to the Houston Astros due in part to the bats dying when it mattered most.

New York already brought back the ways of George Steinbrenner by giving Gerrit Cole $324 million. So it's time to bring in more star power by pawning off young players like Clint Frazier, Miguel Andujar, and Deivi Garcia to gain either Lindor or Arenado.

Last offseason, Arenado was thought of as the Yankees' Plan A at third, as they let Manny Machado float away. Then, his sudden extension changed everything. Now that he may be available once more, how can you not pounce?

The Yankees Death Star is fully operational. Why not add more weapons to instill fear in the rest of the league? If there's a time to do so, it's right now.
