The club cleared room for Voit on Friday, as the Yankees optioned infielder Breyvic Valera to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The utility man appeared in only one game and went 1-for-3.

Voit was placed on the injured list in early July with an abdominal strain, which occurred when the Yankees were over in London against the Boston Red Sox.
With the absence to the bulk of their core players, Voit filled the void in the Yankees lineup, slashing .280/.393/.509 with 17 home runs and 50 RBI.
It's a shame Voit went down when he did because he was on his way to securing a spot in the Home Run Derby, which we all would've loved to see. Now, it's time for him to get back to form starting on Saturday.
