Yankees Officially the Team to Beat in MLB

The New York Yankees were already getting a huge pick-me-up offensively with Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge returning in the coming weeks, and then they took it to another level with the addition of Edwin Encarnacion, who leads the AL with 21 home runs, on Saturday.

So, does this make the Yankees the team to beat in baseball? You betcha.

New York already has a power element in their lineup with Gary Sanchez, Luke Voit and Gleyber Torres. Now you add Judge, Stanton and Encarnacion, all of whom have 40-homer power who can go bridge at any point. Oh, and you can't forget about DJ LeMahieu and Didi Gregorius.

The Yankees are on the verge of possessing a super lineup, which will be very difficult to tamper down when they are rolling on all cylinders.

While this lineup is almost impossible to navigate through, GM Brian Cashman still has work to do in the starting pitching department.

New York is still hoping that ace Luis Severino will return after the All-Star break. That would be a huge addition, but even if that happens, the Yankees need James Paxton and Masahiro Tanaka to turn their fortunes around. On top of that, the Yankees have a couple banged up starters (Domingo German and CC Sabathia) and a less-than-stellar J.A. Happ.

The Yankees still need to add at least one starter to before the trade deadline to give them a chance to make a deep run in October, but Cashman has all the resources at his disposal to make that happen and pair a more-than-serviceable rotation with a dangerous lineup.
