Yankees Option Outfielder Mike Tauchman to Triple-A in Corresponding Move for Aaron Hicks

As the Yankees slowly return to full strength, their depth pieces must likewise return to their original roles.
With Aaron Hicks set to make his return from the injured list, the New York Yankees have optioned outfielder Mike Tauchman to Triple-A.
Tauchman filled in for an outfield that has been decimated by injuries. In 32 games, he posted a .213/.314/.427 slash line with four home runs and 12 runs batted in to boot.
Though not nearly as much of a threat at the plate as the regulars, Tauchman served as a good stop-gap, embracing the "next man up" mentality of the team.
He now returns to Triple-A, where he has a career .870 OPS.
He produced when he needed to, and the Yankees couldn't have asked for much more from a guy that virtually nobody expected to see at the MLB level for an extended period of time this year. Naturally, he capped his MLB tenure (for now) with a tiebreaking RBI double on Sunday afternoon against Tampa Bay.
At the very least, the Yankees now know what to expect out of the outfielder if they should need to call upon him in the future.
