Yankees Pitcher Gerrit Cole Has Grown Out His Beard Again
By Scott Rogust
Besides his killer velocity and pitching repertoire, Gerrit Cole is also known for his long locks and facial hair. Yet, Cole had 324 million reasons to shave off his beard, coming in the form of a lucrative contract with the New York Yankees.
Cole showed up to his introductory press conference clean-shaven back in December, but the look didn't last too long.
A photo surfaced of Cole just before Spring Training in his full Yankees gear, but with his beard back and better than ever.
No, the Yankees haven't gotten away from their longtime "clean-cut" rules for their players. That's never, ever going away.
Rather, Yankees players grow out their facial hair once the season reaches its conclusion. That's been seen recently with catcher Gary Sanchez and infielder Gleyber Torres, who've been sporting some bristles on their faces.
Once the regular season kicks off, the razors and shaving cream come out to appease late owner George Steinbrenner, who always stressed the importance of Yankee players looking professional.
Don't get too accustomed to the beard. Cole will have to go back to his babyface look shortly.
